Ham Kitty was formed to check a box on Tina Morrison's bucket list: She and Trish Berrong, two of Kansas City's most seasoned improvisers, had never performed together. They gathered a few more friends—all experienced actors, improvisers, and teachers—and entered the Underground Throwdown competition presented by the KC Improv Company. Nine months later, the competition ended, but the group lived on.
They continue to play their signature set: "Mystery Bucket" was created when they immediately "yes, anded" the first thing they heard when they met at a bar to discuss their show. If you go to the Foundry, "Mystery Bucket" is a beer special; at a Ham Kitty show, it means the audience throws random crap in a bucket to inspire their scenes.
